-Frustration-

Maren & I received some VERY frustrating news today.

We are not going to be able to close on our house on Thursday after all. It turns out that the house and property have never been surveyed until now. The current owners were not required to have one when they bought the house ten years ago. The original owners owned two lots, lots 22 & 23. The house sits on both. However, when they bought it, the paper work said "lot 22." So the original owners still own lot 23.

So they have to track down the original owners, have them sign off the paperwork to the current owners, and then we can close. We don't know when that will be, but more than likely won't be until next week.

But we still have to move out of our apartment on Wednesday morning.

Now, hopefully the original owners will simply sign over since it was understood when the house was sold that they were selling ALL of the property. But if they decide to get greedy and demand more money, things could get rough. And we could be out of a house. And there's not a lot of rental property in Marshall.

Meantime, I have to move our stuff over on Thursday. I don't know where its going to go.

Maren's Wish

I met the guys from Sunday School today for lunch at Mama Rosa's Mexican restaurant, and when I got home today Maren was sitting there with her shirt up and her belly hanging out. She had the curtains drawn and the lights off, so I couldn't see what was going on at the time.

Turns out, she had found this weird set of paints on amazon.com called "Proudbody Pregnancy Belly Painting Kit" (just type in that and you'll see some amazingly...odd...artifacts.... This is what she did:

...she's got the whooooole world, in her hands. she's got the whole wide world...

Nah...I'm just teasing. She didn't really. But she said she was going to buy this for the next time she's pregnant, plus one for each of her two Records family sisters-in-law.

House Hunting IV: We have a House!

(I had an old sergeant friend tell me that anytime you're telling a true story you have to start out with "so there we were...")

So there we were in Marshall on Wednesday. Maren & I had gone over to do insurance paperwork & take a look at the model apt. to get an idea of how much space we'd have. I had taken some boxes over for my office when lo & behold the dean's admin assistant said, "I don't know if I should do this, but there's a house..."

So we went & looked. And we like. So now, on Jul 12, we put in a bid on the house.

Today, Jul 13, they accepted. We have a house in Marshall, Texas. 32 Linwood Drive, Marshall, TX, 75672.

A very Maren Baby Shower

July 5 was a happy day for us. We were privileged to pay $330 for towing and a new starter in our truck, but what's more, the Baylor Theatre dept. held a baby shower for Maren. The theme was "Diaper & Bath", and we really appreciated that DeAnna, Renee and Sue put this together for us as well as everyone who came. Here are some photos with some captions which I've cleverly devised myself.

One of us is feining excitement...

...when "Rock Paper Scissors" for opening the gifts doesn't work...

Sometimes Maren's head falls over. I have to put it back upright.

Stan has a hard time being around cake ever since that whole Betty Ford incident...

Maren at 33 weeks

I thought Maren looked really beautiful at church today, and we've been talking about the need to get some new photos of her & the belly. So we took some after church today before going to our birthing class.
